The Chief Provincial Firearms Officer for Nova Scotia will send a notice to Canada Customs regarding this event. This message will be distributed to all Border Services Officers at points of entry in Canada to expedite processing of participants through Customs.
It is recommended that you register your muskets with US customs prior to entering Canada as proof of ownership, just as you would register a camera. You may need documents to prove that you are entitled to possess a firearm in Canada, and you will have to transport your musket safely, with the flint removed.
Due to short barrel length, pistols may be restricted and it is recommended that you do not bring them. Special permits may be necessary.
Ammunition can be brought in by up to a maximum of 17.66 pounds.
The Chief Firearms officer of Nova Scotia is Maarten Kramer. He can be reached through the Canadian Firearms Centre at 1-800-731-4000.
All travelers entering Canada are required to provide proof of citizenship. You may bring a passport, however a valid photo ID such as a drivers license is acceptable if presented with a birth certificate, a certificate of citizenship, or naturalization certificate.
U.S. Customs may require a passport upon return.
All adults traveling with children should also carry identification for those children.
